  • Dr. Roxanne Hait, Psy.D., LP

    Dr. Roxanne Hait is the founder of Phoenix Psychology and Counseling and a licensed psychologist. Dr. Hait has expertise in helping individuals navigate Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Catastrophic Injury, Life and Family Transitions, Relationship and Communication Difficulties, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress, Giftedness, and Aging and Memory Care. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and collaborate with clients to explore issues and identify and implement realistic solutions.

    Dr. Hait's mission and the philosophy of Phoenix Psychology and Counseling is to create hope and give patients a place to restore, maintain and enhance their psychological wellbeing. She believes accurate and thorough assessment lends itself to a deeper understanding of the individual, and results in realistic treatment planning and better outcomes. Phoenix Psychology and Counseling provides support and guidance to allow individuals to heal old wounds, grow in new ways and reinvent their lives. Our team can help you navigate an unexpected life stressor or help manage a longer-standing psychological issue. Our team designs individualized and personalized treatment, using a variety of research supported techniques based in Psychodynamic, Cognitive/Behavioral, Humanistic, and Emotion Focused Theory. Our approach allows individuals to share their struggles, identify their strengths, and master new skills in a comfortable and confidential environment.

    Trained in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Hait is skilled in understanding and diagnosing the development of pathology with a variety of measures including objective and projective tests, intelligence evaluations, clinical interviews, neuropsychological batteries and personality assessments. In addition to private practice, she has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient hospitals, community mental health centers, police department victim services centers, medical practices, schools, and assisted living and skill nursing centers. Dr. Hait trained under the Vail model as a generalist practitioner scholar which prioritizes the acquisition of clinical skills and the application of research in treating a broad range of mental health concerns. Dr. Hait has performed psychological evaluations and provided associated evidenced based treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress conditions for more than a decade. She is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a cognitive processing therapy for trauma as well as dialectical behavior therapy and trauma informed care. She is well versed in treating diverse populations and providing culturally competent care. Dr. Hait regularly conducts psychological evaluations for the Arizona State Board of Nursing to assist in protecting the safety of the public and to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of impaired nursing professionals. As a licensed psychologist, she also supervises psychology trainees, counselors and social workers.

  • Dr. Agnes McKay, Psy.D.

    Dr. Agnes McKay is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Phoenix Psychology & Counseling. Her practice covers a broad range of mental health issues, with a particular focus on acknowledging and embracing our authentic individuality to address and enhance psychological health. She brings multiple years of experience treating a broad range of concerns and conditions for individuals ages 13-80+. A strong advocate for the connection between physical health and mental health, she often assists clients with self-esteem issues, body image concerns, identity exploration, communication and relationship satisfaction, cultural impacts on mental health, grief, loss, and spiritual matters. Dr. McKay also treats trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.

    She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University and completed training in residential and inpatient settings as well as outpatient clinics, community mental health centers, behavioral focused schools, and private practice. Her dissertation research examined the psychological approaches for the treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Dr. McKay practices from a humanistic, person-centered model which embraces individuals as experts on themselves and employs methods which explore the connection between mind, body, and spirit as well as finding one’s voice.

    A certified clinical trauma specialist, Dr. McKay's practice is built on providing a supportive environment where clients can safely explore their concerns, identify goals and implement solutions. She is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Hait and while she works towards her independent license.

  • Wendy Bowersox, LMSW

    With over two decades of experience in various roles in the mental health field, Wendy has dedicated her career to empowering individuals and fostering resilience. Wendy's therapeutic work extends across the lifespan, welcoming individuals aged 10 and older. Her approach is characterized by collaboration, support, and accountability, ensuring that every client feels heard, valued, and capable of achieving personal growth.

    Wendy's commitment to her clients is evident through her extensive work with adults, families, children, and teens. As a therapist, Wendy operates from a foundation of support and client-centered practice, always prioritizing the needs and goals of those she serves. She is skilled in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Wendy's expertise is particularly beneficial to individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship and communication difficulties, trauma, grief, and loss. Her approach is rooted in the belief that everyone possesses unique strengths, and she is passionate about guiding her clients to recognize and build upon these assets.

    Wendy has the unique ability to manage complex cases and navigate diverse needs with compassion, grace, and professionalism. She has been a pillar of support for children with various DSM diagnoses, aiding in their social and behavioral development across school, home, and community settings. She has supported young women under 18 through their pregnancies, offering guidance on everything from job placement and education to crucial daily living skills. Wendy's expertise extends to supporting individuals recovering from substance abuse and managing severe mental health challenges. Her dedication to safe crisis management and her active participation in multidisciplinary teams exemplify her collaborative spirit and her unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. She has worked in roles focusing on supporting and serving severely mentally ill, focusing on their reintegration into the community, working directly with women and men transitioning from incarceration to the community

    Wendy's journey in mental health has seen her excel in a variety of roles, from clinical to administrative, including supervisory positions where she has mentored and led teams with empathy and expertise.

    Wendy’s focus with Phoenix Psychology and Counseling will be providing direct clinical care to individuals across the lifespan. While she pursues her independent licensure, she is under the supervision of Dr. Hait.

  • Dr. Kristin Million Psy.D., LP

    Dr. Kristin Million is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and has been working in the mental health field since 2009. She has experience in a wide range of settings including alternative schools, substance abuse rehabilitation, community mental health, a neurology clinic, and private practice. She has worked with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of presenting issues, such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral problems, trauma, grief, and phase of life challenges.

    Dr. Million has completed specialty training in Existential-Humanistic Therapy and utilizes an integrative approach to tailor treatment to individual needs. Interventions such as CBT, DBT skills, play therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy may be used depending on client needs. Dr. Million has researched the social and emotional needs of gifted children, and is trained is assessment for giftedness, as well as ADHD and other psychological disorders.

  • Dogtor Missy

    Missy Pearl is the junior member of our animal assisted therapy team. While her exact heritage is unknown, she is believed to be a Maltipoo. A friendly, playful and empathetic soul, she adapts her personality to each situation. She can be found making friends with little insects and enjoying smelling the flowers. She joined the Phoenix Psychology and Counseling team in April 2017 and continues to develop and refine her therapy skills.
